Computer Running Slowly And Freezing After Running Firefox And Steam Games

I did 3 things: reinstalled all MB drivers from intel website (chipset, lan, audio driver etc), installed Intell Desktop Utilities, run a chdsk and than cleaned up my computer. One troubleshooting product, "WhatIsHang" by NirSoft enables you to capture some stats about the Hangs, but hasn't helped me diagnose the cause... It had been downloading for a bit when my computer froze (stopped completely no slow down this time). in win7 you can change to ahci right away because it locked in regedit so just unlocked it there will let you change to ahci with out blue screen after boot.
