To what degree is a different question.I assume you are connecting the monitor to the GPU and not the onboard iGPU output correct. and obviously neither did switch GPU positions.I am fearful that maybe this could be a defective PCI-E slot issue but dont really know enough about this stuff to say especially since Whew... The next screen, as if it was about to boot Windows, just sits there with the flashing underscore symbol in the upper left. If you haven't totally de-installed the old video driver, then do so under the "safe mode w/networking selected" and see if it can do that. not enough power can lead to system freeze.
