I am sorry to hear about the boot problems being experienced after installing Service Pack 1. That only applies to pre-installed XP images from HP or Compaq - not your situation. once i turned my laptop back on I had 86 updates pending. Use only drivers provided by the manufacturer, do not use drivers offered by other sources.
After doing this for several minutes it tells me that it must restart and to click "Finish" to restart. Describe all symptoms seen and all messages given. What is the brand/make of PC? Does it have an Intel or an AMD processor?

Marty December 25, 2016 Reply With 5 PC systems in the house, I installed Win 10 and had issues, drivers problems, etc and once fixed, the systems were all slower no this fixed the issue i was having for over a week! so I was like steaming when it did it all night, well, I figured out that I should try safe mode and no luck just restart.
Worked 100% Don't know what we would do without people like you that figure things out and share. So I followed your steps and after I got to the end, I ran the updater for five minutes and had 32 updates. After a dozen or so different scans I manage to clean the garbage off it and get it running smoothly. It does take some time for the rollup to install, but the others were relatively quick.
