You may also... It started out with a virus that "scanned" my computer for an infection, and of course my wife hits "OK". I then restarted the computer and Avast antivirus wasn't working properly. Do you see the wireless connection in "Network connections" ? 3.

Thanks! I tried to load up the components of avast that weren't working properly but the buttons like "Fix Now" weren't working at all. Now ever since... greatly appreciate any help. I checked the services and found various ones turned off that were listed as automatic, so i turned them on and then restarted my machine. I can connect to both my own network/detect several others on both my phone and another laptop).

i had the card enabled and it wouldn't find any wireless netwroks and i just noticed that the light wasn't on. I checked the system event log in the control panel and did notice some errors and warnings. My problem is I can't connect to my wireless network to surf the internet. But anyway. I hit uninstall and then ok and then the computer hangs and does nothing. weblink Also I don't want to try recovery console yet, I'm fairly sure there are less extreme options to try before that.

When I press "Refresh Network List" now it doesn't even look for any networks (usually I can see 2 or 3 other networks in the area). When you reboot, Windows will run through it's 'found new hardware' routine and reinstall and set it up. It looks like WiFi inspector does not detect your wireless access point/Default Gateway 192.168.1.1 (router) either. I've been using this laptop since September- it was in its 'original' state as it was bought in 07, but never used. Refreshing it also does not help. As a guest, you can browse and view the various discussions in the forums, but can not create a new topic or reply to an existing one unless you are logged Weirdly, in tinkering about, at one point I could briefly see several networks (but not the one I need to connect to), but now I am back to zero again.
