Reply Sharon December 17, 2015 at 1:06 am Hi, this was all very helpful however when i reached “devmgmt.msc”, my external hard drive did not appear. but some say then the pc will not ever recognise it again and i can use it only with the tv. Reply saurabh December 1, 2016 at 3:16 am it worked.....mine was showing healthy partition(online). It was defaulting to a quick scan i was heartbroken. This process took me a week of heartbreak so i hope i can save some a lot of trouble. It has the windows logo on it.

IF the unit lights up but does not show anywhere as a valid piece of hardware, it is still possible that the HDD inside it is OK with good data, and this worked. This process took me a week of heartbreak so i hope i can save some a lot of trouble. If you see yours, move onto the next section.

I tried to use a brand new 16gb USB 2.0/3.0 SanDisk flash drive and the first time I tried to use it the drivers did not install. but the tv displays a message this usb device is not recognized i have read that i can reformat the drive to Fat file system.
