My new CPU is AMD FX-8320 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W 8-Core Well AM3 and AM3+ are different. You may need to also update your Bios on your board, so keep your old hardware to boot it up. A new install won't erase anything you don't tell it to (either puposfully or accidentally). Had a hell of a time installing it because of the damn plastic clips, but it's in there. Check This Out
